'The Witches' Trailer for HBO Max Reveals Evil Anne Hathaway
Like the best books in the Roald Dahl canon,The Witches tells the tale of a nipper in a tough situation WHO finds himself confronting something truly insidious. It's among his darkest works, as it's about a male child confronting a conspiracy of evil witches who literally deficiency to murder him and all other child on earth. Yikes.
The book has been modified into a new movie directed by Robert Zemeckis of Backbone to the Prox,Forrest Gump, andWho Framed Roger Rabbitfame. It stars Anne Hathaway as the Rich High Witch, Stanley Tucci as the proprietor of the hotel they meet in, Jahzier Kadeem Bruno as The Son, and Octavia Spencer as his grandmother. Chris Rock and roll narrates the celluloid as an older Bruno. And right away there's a trailer.
Dissimilar the book, which is set in England and Norway, the film takes place in 1960s Alabama. It opens with the Boy occupation with his grandma, a "tough noblewoman with a big heart" WHO took him in after his mother died and cheers him finished with cornbread and Motown spill the beans-a-longs. Adorable.
The action moves to the (impressive looking) hotel. The Grand High Witch bursts into the hotel at the head of a very fit-spruced up, perfectly coiffed group of women in elaborate hats. The Boy and his grandmother too finish at the hotel, where the witches sooner or later turn him and ii other kids into mice. Rodent pandemonium ensues.
There's a lot more flash and CGI than the first recorded adaptation of the book. Discharged in 1990, oriented away Nicolas Roeg, produced by Jim Henson, and star Angelique Huston and Sorbus aucuparia Atkinson, it's a rattling good picture that, same the book itself, has forever attracted more than of a craze following.
The trailer gives the impression that the people behind this version of the story are eager for it to be a score with families the way that the films Matilda and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory were. Fourth dimension will tell how victorious they were.
The Witches comes to HBO Max on October 22.
